Silver Screen Saturdays #4

I just got home from work and it’s still Saturday in my book, so I’m calling this post fair game. It’s not Sunday people, that’s just an illusion.

So LOTS has happened in the adaptation film world since we last spoke and I have the highlights. There are two things I’m crazy excited to talk about so sorry if I gush.

I’ll kick it off with something I’m excited about.

tumblr_nbvy2sVEY91smfm4po1_1280 The 5th Wave movie has started production and I’m like “YESS GIMME NOW!” This is going to be one exiting movie. Recent castings include Liev Schreiber as Colonel Vosch and Zackary Arthur as Sammy Sullivan. If you didn’t already know Chloe Grace Moretz is Cassie Sullivan, Nick Robinson is Ben Parish, Alex Roe is Evan Walker (babe), and Maika Monroe is Ringer. One cute tidbit about the movie is this pic that the official 5th Wave Instagram account. This foam cutout of Sammy’s bear. It was awesome to hear Rick Yancey talk about the bear at a signing that Katie and I attended on Friday night. He said that they are creating this bear completely from scratch and they’ll have special meanings just to talk about Sammy’s bear. I for one cannot wait to see the turnout! And I’m not ashamed to say that when Sammy’s bear comes out in stores as official 5th Wave merch I will buy one and have super mega cuddle time with it while I read and drool over Evan Walker. So I’m really excited for this movie! Out January 29, 2016… so still a ways to go, but I can find some patience somewhere – I hope.

papertownsNext up for all you Nerdfighters¬† there is some Paper Towns news! Cara Delevingne has joined the cast, along side Nat Wolff, as Margot Roth Spiegelman! And not only that casting gem, but Jake Scheier has taken on the task of directing this adaptation. Some more news on the John Green front, Universal has shown interesting in optioning Let It Snow. Since this is a short story collection I think that could be something cute. We shall see. OH and before I switch topics don’t forget that The Fault in Our Stars is now on DVD! WHEE! Now we can all cry our eyes out from the comfort of our own home.

Screen-Shot-2014-09-11-at-11.34.56-AMThis new Anastasia Steele still was released by the official Fifty Shades Twitter as a happy birthday to the character. Personally I think a good way to wish Ana a happy birthday is more shirtless Christian, but that’s just my opinion. This will do nicely though. Valentine’s Day where are you?!

The Maze Runner hit theaters this weekend! Stealing the #1 slot at the box office the film is tracking to make $31 Million for it’s opening weekend. Not bad for a Fall feature. This is our slowest time of the year in my opinion, at least at my theater, so this weekend was a nice change of pace at work. Plus the movie is total awesome sauce. I just saw it for the second time tonight with my husband, and even he enjoyed it! I’ll be writing a review soon, so check back for that. I love love loved it!

I know that wasn’t as much news as there actually was in the world, but it’s after 3:00 am now so I’m going to leave you with this HILARIOUS Divergent dystopian parody starring Chloe Grace Moretz and Tyler Posey. I was laughing for days. DAYS I TELL YOU! See you next time movie lovers.

Silver Screen Saturdays #3 – Trailer Edition

sssHello movie lovers! Today’s Silver Screen Saturday is going to be all trailers. I have two reasons: A. There wasn’t a whole lot of jaw dropping book-to-movie news this month and the stuff that has been released I want to hold til the next post, and B. This is a rare day where I have Saturday morning off, but I work at 6pm so I’m feeling extra lazy… so shoot me. But honestly, who doesn’t love trailers? I do. I could make a playlist of trailers to just sit and watch on the big screen (keep in mind I have done this before…) So without further ado here’s a bunch of trailers from some choice adaptations. Enjoy!

Silver Screen Saturdays #1

sssWelcome to my bi-weekly post of what’s hot in the book-to-movie world. Every 2 weeks I’ll just spend some time re-capping what happened in Hollywood and maybe throw in a short movie review now and again for the adaptions. It’s gonna be fun!

So, lots has happened in the movie world this past month and here are some of the highlights!

DivergentBluray Divergent was released on digital HD on July 22. I watched it about a bajillion times using Vudu; I got the download when I pre-ordered the BluRay combo pack from Walmart. It’s coming out this Tuesday (Aug. 5th) on BluRay and DVD. Target is having the best option that I have seen so far. The box that it comes in is glorious – if you got Catching Fire from Target then you know what I mean – and it comes with 3 discs so it has the most special features. I got the Walmart one as a gift from my parents, so I don’t feel too bad buying this Target version as well :p I also got a copy of the BluRay from Summit to review and the special features are fantastic! This is a must have for any initiate.

The highly anticipated trailer for The Mockingjay Pt. 1 has finally released! I thought this one would’ve been played awhile ago, but they just kept fans on the edge waiting. Looks amazing!!

The Maze Runner came out with a new trailer and some new posters! This trailer is epic, we get a glimpse of the grievers!! Watch for yourself:
