Everything Everything by Nicola Yoon
Expected publication: September 1st 2015 by Delacorte Books for Young Readers

My disease is as rare as it is famous. Basically, I’m allergic to the world. I don’t leave my house, have not left my house in seventeen years. The only people I ever see are my mom and my nurse, Carla.

But then one day, a moving truck arrives next door. I look out my window, and I see him. He’s tall, lean and wearing all black—black T-shirt, black jeans, black sneakers, and a black knit cap that covers his hair completely. He catches me looking and stares at me. I stare right back. His name is Olly.

Maybe we can’t predict the future, but we can predict some things. For example, I am certainly going to fall in love with Olly. It’s almost certainly going to be a disaster.

I am a huge sucker for the-boy-next-door plots and everything everything just adds that extra twist to the plot. I’ve heard nothing but goods things from early reviewers and I’m just really excited for this book. Plus as an added bonus, Nicola Yoon is going to be at YallFest this year! So let’s get this month over with, cause I’m ready for fall releases.

21414439Truthwitch (The Witchlands #1) by Susan Dennard
Release Date – January 2016 from Tor

On a continent ruled by three empires, some are born with a “witchery,” a magical skill that sets them apart from others.

In the Witchlands, there are almost as many types of magic as there are ways to get in trouble—as two desperate young women know all too well.

Safiya is a Truthwitch, able to discern truth from lie. It’s a powerful magic that many would kill to have on their side, especially amongst the nobility to which Safi was born. So Safi must keep her gift hidden, lest she be used as a pawn in the struggle between empires.

Iseult, a Threadwitch, can see the invisible ties that bind and entangle the lives around her—but she cannot see the bonds that touch her own heart. Her unlikely friendship with Safi has taken her from life as an outcast into one of of reckless adventure, where she is a cool, wary balance to Safi’s hotheaded impulsiveness.

Safi and Iseult just want to be free to live their own lives, but war is coming to the Witchlands. With the help of the cunning Prince Merik (a Windwitch and ship’s captain) and the hindrance of a Bloodwitch bent on revenge, the friends must fight emperors, princes, and mercenaries alike, who will stop at nothing to get their hands on a Truthwitch.

LET’S JUST STARE AT THAT COVER FOR A SECOND….OK but I cannot express how excited I am for this book! I LOVED Susan’s other series Something Strange and Deadly and always want more words from Susan. 2016 is far away but I know it will be worth it for this story.

22836576The Death Code (The Murder Complex #2) by Lindsay Cummings
Release Date – May 26, 2015 by Greenwillow Books

With short, fast-paced, alternating point-of-view chapters, The Death Code starts several weeks after The Murder Complex ended. Zephyr keeps the secret about Meadow close—that if she dies, The Murder Complex will be destroyed, too. Meadow, desperate to find her brother, father, and little sister, is determined to fearlessly fight to the end, even if it means sacrificing herself and her friends, new and old. The Death Code introduces a memorable cast of secondary characters and delivers a vivid and scary thrill ride read.

I thought The Death Code was a good choice for my first Waiting on Wednesday post, considering I’m very impatiently waiting on this book to be in my hands. It’s original release date would have been just a few days away, but now we must wait just one more month. I can do it… I think. I just need more Zephyr James in my life, that’s all. I’m so excited!

If anyone knew the truth about Beth Risk’s home life, they’d send her mother to jail and seventeen-year-old Beth who knows where. So she protects her mom at all costs. That’s how Beth finds herself living with an aunt who doesn’t want her and going to a school that doesn’t understand her. At all. Except for the one guy who shouldn’t get her, but does….

Thoughts on companion novels? Love or hate opposites attract?

Shadow and Bone was one of my FAVORITE reads of 2012 and therefore the sequel is one of my most anticipated books of the year. I am not usually huge on fantasy but this is such a beautifully written story. I cannot wait to pick this one up!

Did you read Shadow and Bone? What is your most anticipated sequel?

14744489The Summer I Became a Nerd by Leah Rae Miller
Release Date – May 7, 2013 from Entangled Teen

On the outside, seventeen-year-old Madelyne Summers looks like your typical blond cheerleader—perky, popular, and dating the star quarterback. But inside, Maddie spends more time agonizing over what will happen in the next issue of her favorite comic book than planning pep rallies with her squad. That she’s a nerd hiding in a popular girl’s body isn’t just unknown, it’s anti-known. And she needs to keep it that way.

Summer is the only time Maddie lets her real self out to play, but when she slips up and the adorkable guy behind the local comic shop’s counter uncovers her secret, she’s busted. Before she can shake a pom-pom, Maddie’s whisked into Logan’s world of comic conventions, live-action role-playing, and first-person-shooter video games. And she loves it. But the more she denies who she really is, the deeper her lies become…and the more she risks losing Logan forever.

This book takes place in the summer and I love reading books about summer. I fully consider myself a nerd and absolutely love nerdy book boyfriends. I think this is one I will be reading by the pool!

Do you have a favorite season setting? Thoughts on this weeks book?
