Top Ten Tuesday: May 17, 2016

toptentuesdayTop Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme host by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s topic is Ten Books We Picked Up On A Whim.

  1. Possible Side Effects by Augusten Burroughs – I got this book back in 2007 when I was in the airport on my way to Key West, FL. I didn’t know that when I picked this up to read on my flight that I was going to find my favorite author.
  2. Why We Broke Up by Daniel Handler – I’ll admit I picked up this book for pure cover lust. That’s probably my reason for most of my ‘on-a-whim’ books though. We’re all guilty of a little bit of cover judgements… aren’t we?
  3. Dearest Clementine by Lex Martin – I don’t remember why I spontaneously bought this one, maybe someone dd recommend it and I’m just not remembering, but I bought it and loved it so either way it’s a win.
  4. Lailah by Nikki Kelly – This one was more of a whim because I was at a Fierce Reads event and it just sounded too good to pass up. I really liked it, but I’m having trouble finding motivation to pick up the second one 😦
  5. Killer Pizza by Greg Taylor – This was a random middle grade purchase I picked up at HPB, probably because I was hungry. It was a cute story, so there are no regrets… except maybe not having pizza right now.
  6. How To Say Goodbye In Robot by Natalie Standiford – The title pulled me into this one, plus, I didn’t read the synopsis, but I did read the cast of the audiobook was an ensemble and I was down for that. Good productions always grab my attention, and this is a great audiobook!
  7. Crank by Ellen Hopkins – I thumbed through this one in a B&N and I didn’t know what it was about, but I was into the style that Elle Hopkins wrote it. So I bought it! Now Ellen Hopkins is on my insta-buy list!
  8. Unbreakable by Kami Garcia – This was a book I bought because of a blurb. On the back Nancy Holder said “Supernatural meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and that was all I needed. Now I’m hooked and waiting waiting waiting for the third book!
  9. None Of The Above by I.W. Gregorio – I picked this one up for no particular reason. The cover interested me, the concept intrigued me, and I just needed a new audiobook to fill my ear holes. Again, no regrets!
  10. The Last Boy And Girl In The World by Siobhan Vivian – This was my most recent whim purchase. We were just doing some grocery shopping and I made my usual sweep of the book section at Wal-Mart and I saw this gorgeous book and dropped it in the cart. I didn’t even know that the book still wouldn’t be out for a few days. I still haven’t read it, but I have a feeling I’ll enjoy it!

toptentuesdayTop Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme host by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s topic is Ten Websites We Love That Aren’t Book Related.

  1. Reddit: because it is everything I need. Full disclosure, I don’t do THAT much on the internet so my answers here aren’t going to be exciting.
  2. YouTube: because there’s cat videos.
  3. Netflix: because it’s bae
  4. HBO GO: because it let’s me watch Game of Thrones
  5. IMDB: because I’m always asking the question “where do I know them from?”

Top Ten Tuesday: February 9, 2016

toptentuesdayTop Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme host by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s topic is Ten Childhood Characters You’d Love To Revisit As Adults! We decided to do Ten YA Characters we want to check in on in 10 years.

  1. The Whole Lunar Chronicles gang: I mean the series had a good ending but like what’s everyone up to 10 years down the line? Maybe I just want more Thorne.
  2. Eleanor from Eleanor & Park: I mean after an ending like that I want to know what’s up with Eleanor and maybe she will tell me what the note said.
  3. Eleanor from Something Strange and Deadly: Things happen at the end of Strange and Ever After and I want to know where she is at in 10 years. Plus I always want more from my girl Sooz.
  4. Rose from Vampire Academy: I mean yes we did get to see her in Bloodlines series from time to time but Richelle can you please just write more Rose?? Mostly I want to read about her kicking ass and taking names. Also maybe being snarky and sexy with Dimitri.
  5. Juliette from Shatter Me series: This series kinda just ended and I could use a little bit more.
  6. Anna and Étienne from Anna and the French Kiss: We get to see small glimpses of them in Lola and Isla but I want to know how these two cuties are doing in 10 years because if any YA couple makes it I think it would be these 2.
  7. Simon from Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda: Simon is such a fun character and I loved being inside his head.
  8. Emi from Everything Leads to You: Emi is pretty ambitious and I would love to see where she is in 10 years!
  9. Dill and Lydia from Serpent King: Anything could happen and I am curious to see where they end up (and honestly how successful they become).
  10. Wade from Ready Player One: OK technically not a YA book but he is 18 at the start of the book and really want to know what he does after the ending.

  1. Isla and Josh from Isla and the Happily Ever After: OTP! I love these babes and would love to see what 10 years would bring them.
  2. Levi from Fangirl: Is he still the sexiest barista at Sbucks? I hope not cause that would be kind of a bummer, but I have no doubt he’s doing something awesome in 10 years, while still making Cather delicious white chocolate mocha’s *swoon*
  3. Min Green from Why We Broke Up: I just really hope she found someone amazing who will treat her right.
  4. Kennedy Waters from The Legion Series: Technically the series isn’t over yet, so who knows… she might die! But if not, I’d like to see what she’s up to in 10 years. How she’s handling her new life and all that.
  5. Noah Shaw from The Mara Dyer Series: I’m just curious, don’t know if I have any other reason other than Noah is bae.
  6. Four from The Diveregent Series: I know we got glimpse into his life after Tris, but there was that weird hinting that he may have had something going with Christina, and I know some people liked that, but I did not. I just want to see what’s become of my first real book boyfriend.
  7. Madeline from Everything Everything: This book ended beautifully, but I want MORE! Madeline had to spend 17 years in her bedroom, I really want to know what she’s doing with her life outside of that sterile bubble.
  8. Simon Spier from Simon Vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda: I agree with Katie, Simon is the funnest. I loved reading his story, and I’d love to know more ❤
  9. Simon and Baz from Carry On: Call this one another curiosity. I just wanna see where these precious magical babies are in 10 years.
  10. Dill and Lydia from The Serpent King: I’m dying to know what Lydia is up to with all the dreams she had and her online success. And for Dill, I just really hope he did things for him and he was able to do something with his life that not only was best for him, but was something that maybe his parents could be proud of him for. But if they aren’t, then screw them!

toptentuesdayTop Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme host by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s topic is Top Ten Resolutions We Have For 2016.

  1. Spread positive vibes.
  2. Read the books I own. I own way too many unread books and need to devote more time to those.
  3. Embrace saying no. I sometimes agree to or accept ARCs (or even request ones!) when I am still drowning in backlist titles.
  4. Social media less. I live on Twitter and sometimes need to take a step back.
  5. Promoting kindness to others but also to myself. I can be my own worst enemy.
  7. Get more personal on the blog. In 2015 I wrote a few posts close to my heart and they were the ones with the best feedback.
  8. Continue to be awesome aka keeping my confidence up 🙂
  1. Read more on my Kindle. I have so many eBooks and I neglect my poor sweet eReader way too much.
  2. Drink more water, because that’s always a goal.
  3. Read out of my comfort zone, something I started last year with getting into more high fantasy. It paid off.
  4. Become more involved in the book community.
  5. Blog more!
  6. Spend more time with my family.
  7. Write more.
  8. Finish The Lunar Chronicles series (I’m still on Cress, please don’t hate me)
  9. Spend more time (and money) in my local indie bookshop.
  10. Enjoy life.
