Book Life Tag

Starting my first tag post with the Book Life Tag! I found this tag on Crazy For YA through a book tag master list on Goodreads (which I’ve already bookmarked! I’ve never been tagged for anything, so I plan on ‘tagging’ myself a lot ;p)

So here we go!
Who would your parents be?

I decided to go with what book parents are most like my parents vs. who I would want to be my book parents – same goes for every answer on this tag. My parents are crazy weird and fun, but also super supportive and epic-ally selfless. I feel like they would be a healthy mix of the Spiers from Simon Vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda and the Priors from Divergent.

Who would be your sister?

Evangeline Samos from Red Queen, hands down. I won’t get into it too much, but it doesn’t necessarily mean it has to be a bad thing.

Who would be your brother?

My oldest brother would Wade from Ready Player One. I could see him living out the book if Oasis was a real thing, plus I think him and Wade have a lot of similar qualities. For my youngest brother, that one I mulled over for awhile and I narrowed it down to Travis from The Serpent King. Maybe not in every way, but in a lot of ways they are similar humans.

Who would be your pet?

I’m not allowed to have pets in my current apartment, which is the literal worst because it’s the first time in my life I’m animal-less, so for this one I’m going to choose a bookish pet that I would LOVE to have and that it hands down is Pax from Pax! Foxes are my fave, and Pax is just too adorable to not want to smother with kisses.

Where would you live?

The town I live in is a lot like Bone Gap – just without the magic gaps. It’s small and there’s corn as far as the eye can see.

Where would you go to school?

Well I already go to MCC (McHenry Community College) so I’m going to say my bookish counter part would be the MCC straight out of The Fault In Our Stars :p

Who would be your best friend?

Well, while I’m reading Red Queen/Glass Sword I can always picture my girl best friend Layla as Mare. They are both small and scrappy and they don’t take any shit. Then the other half of my BFF squad, Lydia, is totally Anna from Anna and the French Kiss. She’s even in Europe now having adventures. They balance me out, it’s great!

Who would be your significant other?

Would it be creepy to use Wade from RPO for both my brother and my husband… yeah probably. But I’ve already in the past compared my relationship to Isla and Josh’s from Isla and the Happily Ever After. If you want to read my mushy post about that check it out on my tumblr –> here

So that’s the tag! Had a lot of fun thinking up my book life. I challenge you all to do the same! Be like me, TAG YOURSELF! Just of course let me know you did it that way I can see your answers too 🙂

Reading Habits Tag!

12934848_1732636800358366_1371149145_n(1)Today I am doing the Reading Habits Tag! Originally created by BethJune327, find the video and her channel here! I thought this would be fun to do because my reading habits are constantly changing.

Question #1: Do you have a certain place at home for reading?

I typically read in my bedroom. I mostly read on my bed but I also have a comfy chair. Sometimes I can get distracted in my room (by computer, TV or other books!) and if this happens I will usually move to my living room couch.

Question #2: Bookmark or a random piece of paper?

I usually use a bookmark but every once in awhile I can’t find one and use whatever I can find including receipts, hair ties, bobby pins and gum wrappers.

Question #3: Can you stop reading anytime you want or do you have to stop at a certain page, chapter, part, ect.?

I can stop whenever (usually bc I fall asleep oop) but I usually aim to finish a chapter before moving on to another task.

Question #4: Do you eat or drink while reading?

I am always drinking water but I usually don’t eat. If I do eat it is probably popcorn or goldfish crackers (the least messy snacks in my opinion!)

Question #5: Can you read while listening to music/watching TV?

I used to be able to listen to music because I read on my commute to school and it was easier to read while listening to music rather than the sound of other people on the train. Now a days I need mostly silence, I sometimes turn on white noise if there is too much going on in my house! I like thunder storm mixed with campfire.

Question #6: One book at a time, or several at once?

I wish I read one book at a time! I am constantly between 10 different books. I am such a mood reader so I jump between books all the time. Usually I stick to one book a day unless I finish.

Question #7: Reading at home or everywhere?

I almost always read at home. I will read ebooks in waiting rooms and such but majority of my reading at home.

Question #8: Reading out loud or silently in your head?

Silently in my head! I used to read things for school out loud so I could have better retention but I read WAYYYYY faster in my head and like to devour books.

Question #9: Do you read ahead or skip pages?

I only do this if I am thinking about DNF-ing. I will sometimes read the last chapter to see if things happen that sound interesting enough to keep going (usually no hahaha)

Question #10: Breaking the spine or keeping it new?

I prefer hardbacks and this isn’t a concern. But it is impossible not to break the spines of my mass market paperbacks but I try haha (I like the look of fresh spines on my shelf!)

Question #11: Do you write in books?

Not usually but recently I saw Steph (from No BS Book Reviews) write in her ARCs. When I started reading Kids of Appetite by David Arnold I thought about doing this and I am enjoying way more than I thought I would!! I underline and throw in a few heart eye emojis.

What are your reading habits?? I want to see!!

Throne of Glass Book Tag!

I was tagged back in December by Rachel of Hello, Chelly to do the THRONE OF GLASS BOOK TAG. If you weren’t aware I have a slight obsession with TOG and can’t believe I have waited this long to do this tag!! This tag is created by the lovely Alexa & Hannah.

9754815Lysandra | A book with a cover change you loved
Anna and the French Kiss/Isla and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins. The original covers were very cliche YA covers for the time. They both got upgraded to a beautiful ombre and so colorful!

Abraxos | A book that’s better on the inside than it looks on the outside
The Bloodlines series by Richelle Mead. These covers are UGH. The cover models always look awkward and bored. I will give them props for keeping the same cover models throughout but these covers could have been SO BADASS. The Vampire Academy covers aren’t much better.

Erilea | A series with great world-building
I have to go with The Grisha series by Leigh Bardugo. Shadow and Bone was one of my early fantasy reads (I was a fantasy newb in 2012). The world is so beautiful and Leigh’s writing is so lush that I couldn’t help but fall in love. Plus now we have Six of Crows set in the same beautiful universe.

9859436Rifthold | A book that combines genres
I have to pick Something Strange and Deadly series by Susan Dennard. That book could be historical fiction, steampunk, paranormal, zombies or supernatural (plus romance!). It kind of has a bit of everything and I love it.

Damaris | A book based on/inspired by a myth/legend
The obvious choice for this was Percy Jackson BUT I am picking The Covenant series by Jennifer L Armentrout. I have yet to finish the series but it a modern spin on being a child of a god and a mortal. The first few are super fun and action packed..and this is reminding me I need to finish the series sooner rather than later.

Kaltain Rompier | A book with an unexpected twist
The Fixer by  Jennifer Lynn Barnes has ALL THE TWISTS. It is also one of the best books I’ve read in awhile. Seriously sat down and read it in a single sitting. I have also heard The Long Game is just as much mind fuckery as the first so I best be starting this sooner rather than later.

Assassin’s Keep | A book with an unreliable narrator
We Were Liars by e. lockhart tells readers to lie about the ending and there is a reason. The story is 10 kinds of messed up and I love it. It is a quick read that really has you wondering what is going on and once you get to the end has you yelling WHAT WHAT WHAT!

23437156Asterin Blackbeak | A book that’s got SQUAD GOALS

Terrasen | A book that feels like home
The Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling because this series defines my childhood and my introduction into the love of reading. If I had to be specific I would say Deathly Hallows because that book came out the summer before my senior year of high school and was a big part of that summer for my friends and me.

Aelin Ashryver Galathynius | A book with the power to destroy you
I am taking this as destroy me emotionally therefore equally lots of tears. The Serpent King by Jeff Zentner really destroyed me emotionally several times. It is rare I cry while reading but it is SUPER rare I cry multiple times (curse you Jeff).

21414439Manon Blackbeak | A book that intimidated you
There is no question that I love and respect Susan Dennard. I loved Something Strange and Deadly series so when it came time to read Truthwitch I was scared. There was a lot of hype for this book (for good reason) and it lived up to every expectation.

Rowan Whitethorn | A book that makes you swoon
Kulti by Mariana Zapata was far too long of a book but that slow burn romance really got to me. I mean I also totally did not pretend I was Sal at *any* point during this book.

Chaol Westfall | A book that challenged you to see things differently
I had to think about this one. There have been quite a few books recently that have helped me understand mental illness better but I’m not sure I would consider it differently. I think I will have to go with Wonder by R.J. Palacio because that book really made me think because it features multiple points of view and felt so real. I wanted to hug all the characters in this book.

18966806Fleetfoot | A book that you received as a gift
Morning Star by Pierce Brown from Mary @ Mary Had A Little Book Blog delivered to me by Jess from Stuck in Books. These two have a history of making requests of Pierce. This time was a “valentine’s day quote” or something…this video also exists. (seriously hate/love these two)

Eye of Elena | A book you found right when you needed it
I am going to have to pick Twilight by Stephenie Meyer. This book sparked my interest for books that weren’t romance. Before I read Twilight in 2008 I had almost exclusively read contemporary fiction. Twilight opened a new door for me and I saw that I could enjoy books about Vampires or Werewolves or babies with questionable names… (but seriously thank you SM for everything)

I am tagging Mary (even though she hasn’t read TOG yet YOU CAN STILL ANSWER OK) ANDDDDD anyone else who wants to do this tag!! It was so much fun!!
