Contemporary Romance Reading Challenge 2016

Yesterday I posted the first of a few reading challenges I will be attempting this year. Today is all about the Contemporary Romance Reading Challenge! This challenge is hosted by the lovely Danielle at Love at First Page and Jess at Gone with the Words. I am excited about this challenge because next to fantasy, contemporary romance would have to be my favorite genre.

My romance taste is all across the board! I have a good mix of young adult, new adult and adult romances I plan on reading this year. I am going to aim to get at least 20 because I want to hit a home run 😉 Also this is no more than 2 romances a month and this is totally doable for me!

Make sure to check out Danielle’s or Jess’s blog for full details! Below are some of the titles I hope to read this year for the Contemporary Romance Reading Challenge.

Flights of Fantasy Reading Challenge 2016

So the lovely Alexa of Alexa Loves Books and Rachel of Hello, Chelly are hosting the Flights of Fantasy challenge again this year and I decided I needed to officially join this year. First reason is because these two ladies are so amazing but there are also SO MANY fantasy books coming out this year!! I also have a decent amount of titles on my shelf I want to get this year. Definitely check out either Alexa’s or Rachel’s blog for the full details.

So this year I am setting the bar low for most reading challenges because I don’t want to put too much pressure on myself. That being said for the Flights of Fantasy challenge I am going to aim to read at least 20 fantasy books this year! That is 1-2 books a month will be a fantasy read, which I don’t see being a problem.

Here are a few title I am going to attempt to read for this challenge!

Summer of Series!

I am SO ready to knock some series off my TBR!! Lili from Lili’s Reflections and Danielle from Love at First Page put together the Summer of Series Challenge. The basic gist of is to challenge yourself to read at least one series a month. There are the ever present series that EVERYONE recommends and I keep telling myself “I will get to it eventually”…well today is eventually!!

I am putting my own unique twist on Lili and Danielle’s challenge. On top of aiming to read a series from start to finish each month I aim to finish at least one dreaded third book in a trilogy a month (and hopefully push myself to finish more). I have a bad habit of keeping up with a series until the final book is published and something just happens where the series sits there unfinished. Part of it is not wanting to say good-bye to some of my favorite characters but I am ready for the good-byes!

What series I plan on tackling this summer…

  1. Scarlet Trilogy by A.C. Gaughen
  2. The Sweet Trilogy by Wendy Higgins
  3. His Fair Assassin Trilogy by Robin LeFevers

Series I NEED to finish this summer…

  1. Horde (Razorland Trilogy) by Ann Aguirre
  2. Ensnared (Splintered Trilogy) by A.G. Howard
  3. Dreams of Gods & Monsters (Daughter of Smoke & Bone Trilogy) by Laini Taylor
  4. Infinite (Newsoul Trilogy) by Jodi Meadows
  5. The Ruby Circle (Bloodlines) by Richelle Mead

There is one more series I am planning on reading this summer but I am keeping that one to myself because I know if people found I was reading it they might freak. I am really excited about all of these and cannot wait to get started! It is not too late to sign-up either, head over to Lili’s of Danielle’s blog for FULL details.

A-Z Challenge 2014!

In 2014 I not only hope to read 150 books but but a dent in my TBR, mainly the TBR that occupies my bookshelf. I recently watched a video from Raeleen at padfootandprongs07 called the A-Z challenge! I would recommend watching her video for full information but it is basically reading a book for each letter of the alphabet. This allows for me to get a bit creative and I have bolded where the letter falls (whether in be in the title or authors name). Without further ado my list of books I hope to read in 2014 to fulfill the A-Z challenge!

Bout of Books 8.0 – Goals and Tracking

The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, August 19th and runs through Sunday, August 25th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure, and the only reading competition is between you and your usual number of books read in a week. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 8.0 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. – From the Bout of Books team

I am aiming to read 10 books this week! Is it possible? Yes. Is it probable? Probably not. On average I read 4-5 books in a given week and since it is a read-a-thon I am going to aim high! I am going to try and not read multiple books at a time because then I feel the need to switch frequently and that causes me to lose my stride. I am keeping track of pages read even though it is NOT required to do at all. The only requirement is to READ 🙂 I also want to connect with new bloggers through Twitter and blogs. I have met some great people in this community already and would love to meet more.

ARC August

ARC-August-ButtonIt’s August 1st which means…ARC August! What is it you ask? Well the wonderful Octavia over at Read. Sleep. Repeat. decided that the best way to make her way through the ARCs she has acquired. She is not only hosting but also having a giveaway for $20! I mean this could be the easiest $20 you get because all you have to do is read the books you already have. Don’t have a huge stack of ARCs waiting to be read? Then read that stack of books that has actually begun to collect dust. The whole point of this is to come together with other people who may or may not have an embarrassing number of books on their TBR. I know personally I suck at sticking to plans but I am really going to make an effort to try and get my stack of over due review books read (and reviewed) by the end of August. Plus, I am planning on having a grand time with other bloggers. Still hesitant? Check out Octavia’s post here and then check out the books I plan on conquering this month!

On average, I read 13 books a month. Sometimes more, sometimes less. I am hoping that this will be a month of MORE (I really do love more). I am only going to list 12 ARCs that I plan on reading this month because I am also working on my Classics Retold challenge that begins next month that I may be behind on as well.

So there you have it! Am I going to finish them all? Probably not but I do aim to at least get a few of those pesky ones that came out in the beginning of the year. I am also luckily going on a NO BUY this month because Comic-Con emptied my wallet and filled my book shelf. I put some on there that I am DYING to read and I put some other ones on there that I have been putting off for…a long time. I hope y’all join in on the fun because that stack of ARCs is not going anywhere soon!

Classics Retold

I am really excited to share with you a reading challenge I recently signed up! There have been a lot of YA/MG books published in the past few years that are a re-telling of a classic myth or story. Alison from The Cheap Reader came up with the idea of CLASSICS RETOLD. Choose a classic that is of interest of you and either read (or reread) the original text. After reading the classic of choice, immerse yourself in any adaptations, spin-offs, sequels, or retellings. When September rolls around, everyone will spend time sharing their thoughts, reviews and anything else that seems of interest surrounding their chosen classic!

This challenge is still in the sign-up phase until May 25 so if it seems at all interesting go check out one of these lovely hosting blogs from more information about their related era or focus and for a full list of breakdown/rules:

I am personally participating in Mythology Classics! I am focusing my reading on various gods/titans. I have a book I read freshman year of high school that I am going to use as my classic text and plan on reading the Percy Jackson series in entirety as the focus of my retellings. If I have enough time I may read others that cover multiple gods (Oh. My. Gods.) or ones that have specific gods (Of Poseidon, Everneath). As you can see I have plenty of things to read between now and September!

Are you planning on participating? If you have already signed up, what classic are you focusing on?
