I wanted to tell him all my secrets, but he became one of them instead.

Chloe Rivers never thought she would keep secrets from her best friend. Then again, she never imagined she would fall in love with him either. When she finally reveals her feelings, rejection shatters her, rendering her vulnerable and sending her straight into the destructive arms of the wrong guy.

Gavin Rhodes never saw the betrayal coming. It crushes him. Chloe has always been his forbidden fantasy–sweet, tempting, and beautiful. But when the opportunity finally presents itself, he makes the biggest mistake of all and denies her.

Now it’s too late . . .

Four years after a devastating tragedy, Chloe and Gavin find themselves crashing back into each other’s lives. Haunted by the past, they’re forced to come to terms with all that has transpired to find the peace they deserve. Except they can’t seem to get near each other without combatting an intense emotional connection that brings them right back to where it all started . . . their childhood treehouse.

Chloe still holds her secrets close, but this time she isn’t the only one with something to hide. Can their deep-rooted connection survive the destruction of innocence?

I knew I wanted this book in my hands because I adore Allen’s first series The Summer Solstice (read it if you haven’t, it’s so enchanting!) but I wasn’t prepared to love it as much as I do.

Allen’s writing is wordy, but beautiful. There were a few moments where I wish there were less filler words and more kissing, but I can appreciate the heavy words because they are poetic. That’s literally my only complaint, and can you even call that a complaint?

This story is full of different POV’s, journal entries, flashbacks, letters, and a whole lotta heart. Chloe’s and Gavin’s voices are broken, while at the same time being absolutely lovely. This is a story about loss and love and how fragile we are when it comes to both. There were times when I wanted to crawl inside the book and slap one of the main characters because I thought they were being utterly ridiculous, but that’s life. Life is utterly ridiculous, messy, and it can also be amazing. I’m also extremely in love with this cover!

I’m giving my full 5 stars to this story because I truly believe it deserves it. It’s an exciting read and a perfect sexy summer romance! Get this self published gem on July 19th on Amazon! You can pre-order today! >> Pre-order Here!

I loved this book! I live 15 minutes from where it’s set and the accuracy with which she described the area was amazing! I truly felt like I was in the story. 🙂 Nice review.
