April 2016 Wrap-Up

March was kind of a slump for me. I was reading these two very large self-published books for an internship I was a apart of, and these books were so bad they put me in such a reading funk. But I think in April I made up for that and got back in my awesome reading groove that I’ve had going this year so far. Over 40 books in 4 months, I’m proud of myself for that.

So what did I read in April?

booksPax by Sara Pennypacker (5 stars)

The Ticking (comic) by Renee French (4 stars)

You by Caroline Kepnes (4 stars)

The Secrets of Attraction by Robin Constantine (4 stars)

The Serpent King by Jeff Zentner (5 stars)

The Outliers by Kimberly McCreight (2 stars)

audiobooksFox 8 by George Saunders (5 stars)

Simon Vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli (5 stars /re-read)

The Darkest Corners by Kara Thomas (5 Stars)

Gumption by Nick Offerman (5 stars)

Wink Poppy Midnight by April Genevieve Tucholke (3 stars)

The Cemetery Boys by Heather Brewer (3 stars)

A pretty good month! My favorite book this month has to be The Serpent King or The Darkest Corners. They were both amazing! My least favorite of the month was definitely The Outliers… I have a review coming up for that one, so stay tuned if you want to know why I didn’t love this book.

Fun fact: I read The Secrets of Attraction without knowing it was a companion sequel to The Promise of Amazing. I own both books, and when I got them I looked up to see which came first, and somewhere along the way  I got mixed up and started the wrong book first. I still enjoyed it though, and even though some things were spoiled for me, I’m still looking forward to reading the first. This seems to be a trend for me. A couple years ago I read Lola and the Boy Next Door before Anna, not knowing that they went together. It worked out for me then and I’m sure it’ll work out for this series.

What did you read in April?

I’m excited to see you enjoyed The Serpent King so much. 😀 I was a bit nervous in receiving it from OwlCrate since I hadn’t heard much about it yet, but this gives me hope.

Looks like you had a really full and positive reading month! Keep it up!
