Happy Sunday! Hope all is well on the NaNo front. It’s halfway through the month now and I think this is really the time where people start to wig out. On November 1st when we had a whole month to do this we were like “oh yeah, I got this” and not that there are only 15 days left it’s more like
But don’t worry of this is you, because more often than not this is everyone at this stage. Just remember how you felt on day 1, because you do got this!
Visit the pep talks page on the NaNoWriMo site. There are a lot of great authors offering words of encouragement and advice this year and I know they have really inspired me. I just updated my word count today, just a hair over 15,000 words. Not really where I want to be at this point in the month, but I can’t be too hard on myself. I go to school full time, I work part time, and I do have a tiny resemblance of a life. My dream would be to quit everything and just write alllllll day long, talk about paradise… but alas there are these things called bills that prevent me from doing that. So at this point in time I don’t feel very optimistic that I’ll hit the 50,000 mark this month. I’m not going to beat myself up over it though, and neither should you if you don’t hit it. We’re only human.
Don’t take what I just said as an excuse to quit. I’m not giving up or admitting defeat. I will type away until it’s December and I will continue to clack away for months after. Because this is something you need to remember also, a complete novel cannot be written in 30 days. NaNo is great for us to get the story out of our heads and into the word document, but there are months of brutal editing and re-writing and more crazy nail-biting “I can’t do this” moments. My only advice that I can offer is to never stop writing.
I feel like I’m rambling here. I’m going to call it a day. Always remember if you wanna talk NaNo stuff, or really anything, tweet me, email me, leave a comment below, or send smoke signals if you prefer.
Having said all my NaNoWriMo shenanigans I want to share something I think is epic. Earlier this month some of my #IndieBooksBeSeen buds started an awesome holiday giveaway that really blew me away. So many indie authors, including myself, have come together for the Secret Santa’s Indie Book Giveaway! Over 35 indie titles are on here and more indie authors are interested. So what do you have to lose? Enter the giveaway, follow some new amazing people, and have fun! My book Heavy Hearts is a part of the giveaway and I couldn’t be more excited. Especially now that I have a new edition paperback out with an interior facelift and some mistakes corrected, PLUS it now includes my short story told from Finn’s POV. There is so much YAY in my heart right now. Enter to win some fabulous indie books below, and we’ll talk more NaNoWriMo next Sunday!
