Self Published Sundays #9

It’s November and you know what that means! It’s NaNoWriMo!! For those that don’t know, NaNoWriMo is National Novel Writing Month and this pretty much sums it up:

It’s an awesome writing program where throughout the month of November you sit your happy writing little butt down in front of your computer and you plop out a 50,000 word novel. Insane? Yes. But TONS of authors do it and it’s amazing. Some people think that NaNo is a waste of time and any novel that is written in 30-days has to be crap. Well, for one, you are writing a novel! Do you know how awesome that in itself is? Who cares if it’s not the next Twilight or Divergent. You comitted to something you loved and you did it. Congrats, I love you. Now, for all the doubters that beautifully traditionally published books will never be written during NaNoWriMo I’d like you to follow me over here to this list of traditionally published authors who were in fact Wrimo’s. Maybe you’ve heard of some, like Stephanie Perkins, Marissa Meyer and Rainbow Rowell (just to name a few). Yeah… did you know that Anna and the French Kiss, Cinder, and Fangirl were all written during NaNoWriMo? Plus all these other great authors and books listed here. So yes, it may not be for every author out there, but don’t listen to anyone that tells you books that come from NaNo are crap. -rant over-

So October is all about that NaNo prep… y’all wanna know what I did throughout the moth of October: I bought a new notebook and I decorated it with stickers. Yep, this is all my prep right here:

But hey, I’m a really talented procrastinator, so… yeah. But now it’s November and I’m in full on writing mode. I started a new series that will be fantasy based and I’m really excited about it. It’s going to be a nice change of pace from my contemporary novel Heavy Hearts {which I didn’t write during NaNoWriMo last year, but I did use the month to edit like crazy and do a lot of re-writing}

In honor of NaNoWriMo my Self Published Sunday posts are going to be dedicated to the cause. I’ll keep everyone updated on my progress as well as use gifs to portray my current stress levels. Right now I’m about here:

If you are also a Wrimo, or think you want to sign up this year, add me as a buddy! Come chat it up with me and let’s write a fricken novel!

    I already started writing my book about a week ago (with my Mom. We’re writing it together), but I decided to go ahead and give this a try! I’m kind of cheating and I doubt I’ll finish it in a month, but it doesn’t hurt to try!
