Silver Screen Saturdays #5

Hey hey movie lovers. Some awesomeness has happened since we last chatted and I’ve got the highlight reel for ya in today’s Silver Screen Saturdays post! I want to start of by saying this: please go see Gone Girl this weekend. It was an amazing film, and although I cannot comment on its adaptation of the book because I have not read Gillan Flynn’s Gone Girl, but I think you’ll love it either way. I hope. If you’ve read the book and seen the film already tell me in the comments below how they compare. I really wanna know!!

So what’s been going on in the Hollywood adaptation world?

asaAsa Butterfield (Hugo, Ender’s Game) is being optioned for the role of Jacob Portman in the adaptation of Ransom Riggs’ Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. If Asa joins the cast he will be starring alongside Eva Green who has been cast as Miss Peregrine herself. I’m most looking forward to see who’s cast as Olive. She’s my fave. I’m really really excited about this film, especially since Tim Burton is in charge, but I sad this when I first was reading Miss P and I stand by it now, the movie should be animated. Like the sweet stop motion clay awesomeness that is Nightmare Before Christmas and Coraline. Like The Boxtrolls!! That movie was so cute I could die, but I won’t get off topic. Anyway, I know this movie is going to be good either way, and I think Asa would make a great Jacob!

scorch The sequel to James Dashner’s The Maze Runner has been officially green-lit after the success of the first film. The Maze Runner Chapter II: The Scorch Trials is set to release September 18, 2015 and since this news we’ve seen some exciting casting news! Rosa Salazar (Insurgent) is cast as Brenda, Aidan Gillen (Game of Thrones) will play Janson, Jacob Lofland (Mud, Justified) as Aris, and Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad, Once Upon a Time) as Jorge. Put all them with our original cast form The Maze Runner and that’s quite a crew! Something to look forward to for all you Gladers out there.

twilightLooks like Twilight really is forever. Lionsgate has started this new thing (sorry I’m gonna be vague cause it’s a lot of info and I don’t 100% understand it) which sounds really cool, depending on how it’s executed I suppose. Basically filmmakers are going to be able to create a short story based off of the characters from Twilight. From what is sounds like to me it’s not going to be based on the main characters (i.e. Bella, Edward, Jacob) but the characters that we love but don’t hear from as much. “The campaign, called “The Storytellers – New Creative Voices of The Twilight Saga,” will include films based on a broad spectrum of characters from the Twilight universe, with guidance provided by Meyer’s encyclopedic The Twilight Saga: Official Illustrated Guide.” – for more from the official Lionsgate press release check out my babes at MainstreamPassionista.Com

Last up, listen to Lorde’s song ‘Yellow Flicker Beat’ from The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Pt. 1 (It’s so pretty!!!)

Also, go see Gone Girl. Seriously.
