Self Published Sundays #2

So today I’m going to chat about the first ever self published book I had read. Even though the book was littered with typos I was still amazed by the fact that someone just went ahead and made that book without the help from any publishing houses whatsoever. So once I had that in my hands I was like “Hey wow… I can actually do this” (self publish that is).

The only three self published paperback books I own are sold from Amazon, so I assume they are using Createspace to create the copies (of course I could be wrong). That’s what I’ll be using. They make it nice and easy. They print the books on demand as the orders come in, so I don’t have to pay for a bunch of copies myself and hope that I can sell them. I’m almost to that point folks, bare with me. My point to this is that although the books aren’t as cool as some paperback are, or feel as nice as some, they are still nice quality; so that made me feel good about it.

Arena One SmallOnto the book. After I was going through a serious book hangover from Insurgent a friend suggested I read Arena One which is book #1 of The Survival Trilogy by Morgan Rice. Like I said up top, the typos were there, but if you can look past that then it is a fantastic read. I got a more of a Hunger Games vibe than Divergent vibe, but it cured my hangover so I was grateful. I was only 6 chapters in before I decided to purchase the second book Arena Two so I could continue seamlessly.

After reading it I looked up Morgan Rice to see what kind of success she had as a self published author. I don’t know if you’ve read anything by this author, but she has like a million books! Her three series are The Vampire Journals (11 books), The Survival Trilogy (2 books), and The Sorcerer’s Ring (15 books). Each and everyone of these books is self published. I am dying to meet this lady and shake her hand. That’s a seriously impressive thing to accomplish.

If you like fast paced, action packed, survival books then give Arena One and Arena Two a try. I’m still waiting on the edge of my seat to see what happens, but I can’t get any kind of word on when Arena Three will be out. I’ve even emailed the author, and no dice. Hopefully it comes out soon because I need to know what happens!

On a final note. I’ve been a self published author for a little over a month now. I got myself some business cards and book swag (buttons and sticker… still waiting for the bookmarks) and things have been going pretty good. I did an interview on Mainstream Passionista and we also gave away a copy of my eBook. If you haven’t already, check out Heavy Hearts on Amazon today! See ya next week readers ❤

Arena One sounds great, I’m definitely interested. I think it’s really cool that people make the effort and self-publish their books because there is so much more stuff to do than just writing it and I really want to support that. Also, congratulation on publishing your first book! 🙂
